These words are the language arts terms I teach in my own middle school classes. I compiled a list of all the ELA specific words in the Common Core Standards. Then I added more vocabulary words I teach related to literature, writing, and grammar and found the standards they support.
How to Use these Vocabulary Word Wall Cards
Plan ahead first: a chart is provided to select vocabulary terms aligned with each language arts standard. You can record the date on which you introduce the terms and when you practice or assess.
You can also add your own terms with the editable template. Just click to highlight the “Type here” text and type to replace with your own words.
Print on cardstock or heavy paper and laminate if desired. You can add magnetic tape or stick-on Velcro dots if you want to change your word wall frequently.
