Teacher Prep
Easy prep! Just print as many copies as needed of each page before your character archetypes lesson. If you are having every student complete pennants for all the archetypes, consider printing 2 per page for smaller pennants to save paper.
You can also add your own text or print a blank pennant from page 11. To add your own archetype, highlight the text in any blue form field and replace it with your own words. Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-E (or Cmd-E on Mac) to change the font style, size, or color using rich text. If you need to print a pennant without archetype labels, highlight the text in the blue form fields and backspace or delete to remove it.
How to Use these Character Archetypes Pennants
Although they can be used with any novel, these materials will especially support a mythology unit, The Lightning Thief or The Odyssey. Use the pennant banner to create a student-made bulletin board or hallway display. This often makes an attractive visual display for Open House or Back-to-School night!
Standards Addressed
RL.8.9 Analyze how a modern work of fiction draws on themes, patterns of events, or character types from myths, traditional stories, or religious works such as the Bible, including describing how the material is rendered new.
